Despite the range in looks that can be found amongst OEB, has anyone ever seen this mix? A local breeder just had pups, and Im curious to see how these dogs look as they mature - does anyone have pictures please?

I have read somewhere that the Bullmastiff was originally a cross between an Olde English Bulldogge and an English Mastiff. I think you would be getting something that looked like a thicker, bigger old english bulldog if I had to guess. I imagine there may be pics on the net if you google it, for the cross you are looking for.
Mine are Bullmastiff / American Bulldog crosses in the avatar.....minus the lil EB of course. |

So by calling this dog a mutt would it be right to say all dogs are mutts? Aren't all dogs a cross between 1 breed and another? Or is it because some dogs are purpose bred and have managed to become registered with 1 or more of a multitude of registries that it loses the distinction of being called a mutt. Not trying to start conflict here but had it not been for dog breeders with a vision what would we have other than just a bunch of mutts?

I'm personally quite tired of every jo schmo that takes two bully breeds, slaps them together and thinks they've made something fabulous

I could'nt agree more with you on this point. Correct breeding is a science that I'll never begin to understand and really have no desire to. It just seems that at some point that in any particular breed the bloodline is going to become somewhat diluted unless one gets back to the very foundation from which the breed was started. It's not likely the breeder of these dogs had this in mind but would'nt, in theory, a breeding such as this, under the right circumstances, tend to bring back some of the very foundation from which this breed was "designed"?. Just curious? |
