Default Breeder in Sunman, IN

I was looking at the different kennels and breeders on BDB and I found a guy in Sunman, IN where we are from. I've never heard of him before and I was wondering if any of you knew anything about him. This is his website: http://www.ottomonsterbulldogs.com/index.html

I don't trust a lot of the breeders that the site links to, I think they got their stuff up before the site members really cracked down on what is and is not a truly good breeder (reputable).

Also, if you note...the pups are dirt ass cheap and not one mention of what the parents are like healthwise, what they have done, so on, so forth.

That is kind of what I thought. But I wanted some opinions from those of you who are more experienced with breeders and bullies.

Is $700 cheap for an AB? I really don't know, never looked into it.
One of the dogs is "Titled: Iron Dog 3, GDT (Guard Dog Test)"

One would hope and think there would be more history regarding the breeders on the site.

I was thinking the same thing. I want to know what the "champion" bloodlines are. What titles they have, etc.

What I look for more than titles is what health testing has been done. You can have generations of titled dogs in the pedigree but I'm not looking at buying those dogs. I'm looking at buying a pup and I want to know if theirs been health testing done.

I get what you are saying. He doesn't even have any health background listed or even if the pups have had health tests. I'm looking to get another dog in the next year or two so I'm looking around for decent breeders.

4 dogs on their site and not one mention of any health tests (hips, ncl etc) and one measly IDT 3 "title". They don't even list the pedigrees of their dogs. Looks like a pet breeder to me and not someone I would waste my time with. The dogs don't even LOOK nice and I am definitely not one that will generally put a ton of emphasis into that department.

I think most people looking for a pet (novices) put way too much importance into finding a "breeder" close to home. There is this notion that if you can't see the parents and puppies in person that you shouldn't buy a puppy from them. While I do appreciate that idea (especially if you are looking for a working dog) I feel there is a another side of that argument. If one is a novice and only looking for a pet, they probably don't really know what to look for in the parents and puppies anyways, so what is the advantage to seeing them all in person? IMO the buyer would be further ahead to find a well respected breeder out of town and either travel there OR let the breeder pick the puppy that is best suited to their needs and experience level (and have it shipped) rather than buying from some local backyard breeder who doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground just so you can see all the dogs in person without having to travel too far. Quality breeders of AB's are really few and far between and I would hazard a guess that no less than 95% of AB breeders are backyard breeders who don't know anything and just want to make some quick and easy cash. Therefore, the chances of having a good breeder right in your own backyard are quite slim. My advice is to forget about geography and focus on learning what constitutes a quality AB and quality AB breeder.

I wasn't looking to buy his pups anyways because there is no info on the parents or the pups. I just saw that he was in my neighborhood and I didn't know if anyone had heard of him. There are also a few breeders in OH that I'm going to check out.
