Two answer one of your questions I don't think anyone got to: Heat cycles usually vary by the size of the dog. But, yes, they can go in to heat every 3-12 months depending on individual circumstances. So, take everyone's advice, separate them, and get her fixed ASAP.

Let me ask you, is this a dog you bought, rescued, or took in as a stray? If you bought her, you're on your own. But, if you rescued, it should be paid for. And, if you took in a stray, you should be able to get a huge discount from the local humane society.

I would suggest googling low cost spay/neuter programs. I know that we have a myriad of options available to us. Good luck.

outside there is always the potential for dogs other than your own getting to her or her getting away, somehow they find a way when none is evident. I wouldn't leave the in heat female outside unattended.

Contact your city shelter and ask who they use or for a list of low cost vets. My father did that and even asked if they knew of a vet that gave discounts to seniors! He has no shame - but the local shelter helped him out big time!!

my cousin needed to find her a home.. he had given her to a coworker that was very negligible to her.. she got out and animal control got her.. she was there for 6 days and the guy had no intentions on getting her.. so my cousin that gave her to him found out so he went and bailed her out .. told me he needed to find her a home so i took her...

to everyone else, i've been calling around and it seems the cheapest right now is $70...pretty cheap i think... but i just had to get new tires on the car and there went my extra cash for the month

thats what it costs here however our local independent citizens shelter has a voucher program and if you apply you get 50 dollars off so it ends up costing 20 bucks, sometimes they run free spay/neuter clinics, too. Keep calling the small/independent rescues see if they have a similar plan. Good luck

I would check with the local animal control or humane society. Tell them you are adopting her or took her in, which is true. And, they might be able to hook you up w/ a cheap, almost free, procedure.

I thought 70 was cheap, almost free.

Not sure it gets much cheaper than that for a dog....
