Today it has been two years since my sweet Sophie passed away. Last year I
still didn't have the heart to talk about it, so I tried to ignore the one year anniversary. Instead I cried that night for her. This year I still miss her desperately, but Shelby and Sirius have helped to heal my heart. Sophie, you were the best first dog, or best dog at all for that matter, that anyone could ever ask for. You taught us how to love a dog and how to be loved by a dog and for that we will never forget you. I hope you are giving my Black Cat happy puppy kisses for me up there. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Awww Cathleen! Hugs hon. Sophie was sooo beautiful!!!
I know how you feel about the 1yr anniversary. When Managirl's 1yr mark passed earlier this year, I didn't make a peep about it, not even to The Hubs. I kinda just hid in my room so I wouldn't have to deal w/anybody else. I hope I can be strong enough like you are next year. We'll see.

At some point in her life she had been pretty severely beaten and it had caused spinal damage which in turn caused nerve damage, when we got her she had next to no feeling in her back legs, but functioned alright any ways. After about a year with us her spine started to degenerate quickly and she was paralyzed in her back legs but also in a GREAT amount of pain. If it was just the paralysis we would have gotten her a wheelchair but because of the amount of pain she was in we chose to end her suffering. Thanks for the condolences everyone, I know everyone here knows how hard it can be, even years later. |
