Default Flirt Pole

Just built my first flirt pole. I have to say that I have not seen jackson have that much drive to get something since I have had him. He absolutley loved it and it was cheap and easy to make. I do have one question tho. What is the best toy to put on the end 1.A hard Plastic Toy 2. A Soft And Fuzzy Toy 3. Either one. If you could help me out and let me know any tips on working him with the flirt pole that would be great. Thanks

One of those rubber tire/dog toys. You can get them about anywhere. Soft rubber will last longer than a stuffed toy and is better for their teeth than hard plastic. Either the rubber, or a rope toy. I use a rope toy because my tire toy got wore out.

By the way, it means nothing without pictures!

Since you have interest in protection/sport I would go with soft. I know my spelling is off on this but a shammy (sp) is what has been recommended to me by trainers. You can find them at automotive supply departments and/or stores. You don't want to put anything on there that could hurt or cause discomfort when the pup bites. Remember to let the pup win and to stop playing with him when he is still interested in it.

Thanks everyone. 2Bully that is what I needed was to know how to properly work the flirt pole and I was way off so Im glad I asked. I was thinking of just teasing all the time. Now I did use it before I read this post and I was putting it up before he lost interest I learned that from you on a different post but I was not letting him win so I will get a shammy and change it with the toy I have on their now and I will start to let him win. I will take a picture of it but its nothing special. I used a peice of black PVC and some rope really is all it is but it works and he loves it so thats all that matters. Again thanks for all the info.

We use a horse lunge whip, with NOTHING on the end. They are content just to chase the tail of the whip

It can be used to build frustration and therefore drive. We make the pup earn the bite. We don't let the pup have the bite unless they bark first. Keep it just out of reach, if the dog lunges at it move it away, if the dog barks give it to him and praise heavily. Remember no bark no bite. Also have other people play with the pup on the flirt pole just show them how you want it done and supervise.

As soon as you can, you need to get us some pics using the flirt pole.
