get a mac fo' sho'....

i think the newest mac vs. pc commercial says it all...

"this time it'll be different, trust me"

like it really won't have any of the problems that EVERY OTHER "new improved" windows had...do you really want to keep dealing with that??

ETA: DOH!!! i just saw the vid Krames posted, lol.
the computer at work takes forever to load pics/vids, so i didn t see what you posted until after i already did

For the things you listed that your significant other uses a computer for, I would stick with a PC if nothing else but to save you some hard earn cash. For those functions you listed, a Mac isn't going to make a significant difference to the experience. Save the money and buy a top tier PC laptop or desktop -- minimum 4gigs of ram, 500Gig harddrive, Quad core2 Duo chipset, a nice graphic card and a nice sound card. Throw in a 22" widescreen monitor if you're getting a desktop and you're set. Now the final question I have for you is: How do I put you in touch with my wife so you can give her the fine points of buying her hubby a new computer for Christmas?

I have had both PCs and Macs, and honestly I will probably never buy another PC again.
While the Mac prices are kind of high, they have the best customer service that I have ever experienced from any company. The have fixed 2 of my computers after the warranty ran out for free. My computer doesn't freeze and I don't have many problems with it; and the problems I do have have been resolved easily.

Mac FTW. I recently converted some of my designers/engineers over (wasn't hard) and they couldn't be happier. Less headaches, more productivity, better OS IMO.
