+1, exactly what I was thinking, You could also try feeding him with treat ball to keep him entertained.

hi chris, we also have an EB (11 months old) and he sounds EXACTLY like your fur baby. Once the sun starts setting, he becomes a monster! we've tried everything. giving him a new toy to keep him occupied, taking him for walks before/after supper, NILF, ignoring, correcting... he's getting better, the episodes are getting shorter and he getting easier to correct but... we're still waiting for perfection. Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone!

how is he now?

Welcome to the board from someone else from the Windsor area!

Your pup actually sounds really nice. Be happy with a dog with some spunk!

What you need to do is provide more structure for your dog. Forget about that bitter apple, that's a band aid fix. Channel that energy into something you want him to do. If he is busy playing or training with you etc, he can't get the zoomies or get into anything else. Structure. When he is out of the crate he is either training/eating, playing (with you), going for a walk, or outside pottying. Don't let him get the opportunity to go crazy in the first place. Do something with him when he is out. If you refuse to keep him crated when you are not doing anything with him, then keep a leash on him. Any year old dog with some spunk and energy is going to act like this from time to time. Either keep him occupied by doing something else (channel that energy) or limit what he is able to do by keeping him crated or on a leash. Maybe join some sort of club with him? Agility, obedience? etc? Would be good mental and physical stimulation for him.

All great replies....he has been getting enough exercise and he is constantly getting attention....he just freaks out every once in awhile.....last night we changed from being downstairs (where he has the run of the entire basement) to the upstairs where he is not allowed on the furniture.....he was his usual loving self.....I think like some others, he is just young and full of piss and vinegar.....I am going to make sure he gets more stimulation in playing and training....and I think it is time to get him a little sister....We used to have 2 Boston Terriers (Mac & Tosh) and they would run and play with each other and by nighttime they were exhausted! Maybe that will help as well....anyway, thanks so much to everyone that replied.....I will be sure to let everyone know how things are going.....take care all!!

Bones often goes crazy in the evenings. Usually about 1/2 hour or so after eating. I personally don't mind when he gets the zoomies however he never gets mouthy. He doesn't run into things.

Omi does the same thing - she knows she goes for her walk around a certain time at night and if I take too long to get ready she gets a little wacky. Cant blame her since the poor thing has been cooped up all day while I'm at work.
She knows to be calm when I get the leash & poopy bags together but while she sits & waits - she talks.

My main thing is to make sure Omi is physically & mentally exercised. Physically stops the zoomies in the house & mentally stops any chance of destruction/chewing.
But Omi is about 3 yrs old - so I have it much easier than you.
Your guy is young so you have to work a lot harder :P
