Sorry to thread jack but do u or anyone else think that an 8 week program where u meet once a week for an hour is worth $109??

PetSmart is ONLY good for the basics. 8 weeks, once a week, for 109 for the BASICS, I highly recommend it. However, don't make the mistake that I (and many others have made) and stop, thinking that this is actual TRAINING that a bully needs...

No, what I'm saying is to find a QUALIFIED trainer for a bully breed. Not a PetSmart person.

You need someone that can teach YOU how to stay in control of your dog, so that you and your dog can become breed ambassadors.

agreed i take yuri to this private lady who really knows her stuff, we went to petsmart to get some food and yuri was playing with another dog and one of their trainers was trying to tell me all this crap that was completely opposite of what i had just learned. i will tell you haveing adog with a little training has made me a bit of a snob i dont like yuri playing with dogs who dont have basic obediance knowledge

Oh, I did not see about the Petsmart training. AVOID! Find someone who is qualified.
just to give you a bit of a background, I started looking for someone to get the classes when I joined this board back in August.
I've contacted a few people, including sitmeanssit (what a joke), and I think I found a pretty good trainer, the classes are not cheap but so well worth it.

It is totally worth it!!!
Make sure the trainers techniques are exactly what you are looking for though.
Agreed.
We took Bella through their basic, intermediate, and advanced courses. The trainer we had was excellent and at $13 a session it was cheap fun.

most group classes here run from $100-140 for an 8 week course with 1 hour class each week and that includes agility classes and basic to advanced classes.. petsmart is good for puppies to learn a foundation, as most petsmarts use clicker training and its great socialization. of course once a bully gets older then a more structured class is better. but for the most part petco classes are really not that bad and are good for pups...

Concur. Atticus and I learned a lot with his PetSmart classes....he nailed everything (minus the heeling). I also really enjoyed helping him submit and not be such a bully when he was a youngin'. They taught us the little things.
