Well, I've had Harley almost 5 months to the day. When I first got her, I'd bring her to Petco with me, and it was so embarrasing at the check-out
Harley'd be pulling me so hard, I could barely get my money out to pay. Went for a visit last week, and I calmly stated "wait'. The little angel planted her rump & didn't budge until I gave her the OK. On Sunday morning there was a fishing derby down the road my husband was taking our daughter to. So, I click on Harley's leash, and walked down with them. As soon as we get there, I'm being blasted by icy looks. It's pretty obvious Harley and I are NOT WELCOME! I went and sat in the sand with Harley by ourselves. Sure enough, 5 minutes goes by, and a little girl walks up, "can I pet your dog?" . "Sure", I tell her. I put Harley in a nice sit, and the kids start coming. Suddenly no-one is interested in fishing, per se. The smaller the child, the more submissive Harley became, until a little boy, probably 10 or 11 months toddles over with his father. Harley immediately flops on her back, and waits for a tummy rub. Wonderful dog didn't even try to steal kisses. Her behavior was perfect! I love seeing people's attitudes change from "what is that crazy lady thinking bringing a PitBull here?" To "Wow, what a nice dog". It's such a good feeling.
