Hi....

I am new to this forum. I have been reading for quite some time now. I have a 5 month old baby English bulldog named Mr. Bentley. Lately I have been noticing that he is walking with a slight limp. I dont see that its a problem since it doesn't look all too serious, but I just want to make sure if anyone else that have had english bulldog puppies experience this sort of thing????

I took him to the vet and my girlfriend remembers the vet saying something about puppy limp and that he will outgrow it because he is growing at such a fast rate. He currently weighs in at 35 lbs. I'm also hoping that is quite normal for his age???

Maybe I am just being paranoid ( that is what everyone is saying ) since everytime i get a puppy i treat it like its a baby and if there is anything wrong with it i start to panick. IMMEDIATELY.....and I might just be tricking myself into thinking that its a limp. I dont know...I just want to get opinions from experienced owneres. Any information would help tremendously. Thanks Everyone....

My EB female will limp a tiny bit when she wakes from sleeping in her kennel. She stops limping in short order, and I think it's just a little growing pains. She's 6 months, and probably 30 lbs now. Weighed her last week and she was 28.5 ish.

Thanks for all the replies....I know I'm a newbie ont his forum...its good to know that there are friendly dog lovers who are always willing to give a hand.

I am on two other forums..

1.) for shoes
2.) for cars

this is the 3rd one and the most friendliest of all......Thanks again guys. I hope they are just growth spurts like you guys said. I will be sure to have the vet check him up next time.

Once i have some free time i will upload some pictures so you guys can check bentley out. Thanks again!!!!!

could you please explain to me what you mean by rollin gait??? sorry but i'm confused now.....

well ever since this post has beeen put up the dog has seemed to go back to normal. But please explain to me what you mean by rolling gait. Thanks

If you read the breed standard for the bulldog or watch them move "gait" they will roll to one side. It is very different from how any other dog moves. Sometimes it can make them look gimpy, but it is the natural, correct movement for the breed...

Many people believe that puppy food is not necessary even at any age. One thing puppy food does is promote growth. So if you have a large breed dog or a dog that can have growth problems from going too quickly (such as any bulldog breed), switching over to adult food is usually recommended. It definitly will not hurt the dog in any way

I would take him off large breed formula if I were you becouse EB's are not large breed and all the protein can cause a problem. I think that puppy food is a scam. Pups eat the same thing dogs eat in the wild. Just buy a quality food and he should be ok. I would take him to the vet if the limp doesn't go away in a few days.
