Okay I asked when I went to the ER Vet and I have asked my usual Vet but neither seemed concerned. I am though Tora's inner eye lid seems to get stuck a lot and it does not appears to bother her but it look like it could be painful. I guess that I am going to have to take a picture to show the Vet, in order to get a response. But does anyone reconize what is going on here? Is this normal and I am just a freak. Her eyes do not always do this but they are awefully red a lot.

Did they do a tear stain test to check for any corneal ulcers or lacerations? Or did they do a test that checked the tear ducts to make sure they are working properly & producing enough tears?

Either of the above reasons can cause the 3rd eyelid to remain up & also allergies can be a cause as well.

If neither vet checked the above mentioned things, then find a new vet & state that you want it done. In the meantime, you can try starting a Diphenhydramine (aka Benadryl) regimen to see if it's allergy related. The proper dosage is 1-2 mg per pound of body weight so if your dog weighs 50lbs, give him 2 25mg tablets twice a day. If it is allergy related, there would be improvement with a few days. But call today & get another vet appointment with a different vet & don't be afraid to tell them what you want them to do (blame it on me if you have to  ).

Good luck with it all & let us know how it goes.

No they did not! Neither really listened to me about it. The ER Vet was te last one that she went to and I was asking her if this had something to do with the bleeding eye, but she just kind of blew me off. Poor Fats  i am printing this out hopefully I can get this resolved. Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!

No problem. Let me know how it goes!

As for not bothering your dog, how would you only like to see the top half of the world? I'll admit that some vets are just on a power trip.

Please keep in mind that this is a woman(whom i love and adore very much) that goes straight from a bump on the dog's back to it being a debilitating tumor.(yep, i'll be sleeping on the couch tonight)

Okay, I must have missed the bleeding eye somewhere. If she has a history of eye problems, and now this, I would have the vet check it out. It sounds like it may be dry-eye, but I can tell you from experience that this can be pretty darn irritating.

Mr!, how comfortable is that couch?

Looks like bilateral cherry eye to me but what do I know? If your vet doesn't do so I'd recommend they do a Schirmer tear tests on both eyes to assess reflex tear production and see if it has decreased or if your dog has developed KCS. Fluorescein staining should also be considered to evaluate the effect of decreased tear production on the corneal surface.
