This poll comes in light of the dog food mess & the pressure by some to change current laws that put animals in the "property" class.

I've been curious about this & I'm running this poll on several different boards, some 'pit bull' forums & some all breed forums. So please just take a second & answer the poll. If you'd like to explain yourself, I'm all for it!

I like this poll!

I personally voted guardian/parent, because to me my dog's are my children. I understand the difference between a human and a dog, but my animals get treated and loved as if they were 2 additional children.

I chose guardian/parent as well. I lean more toward "guardian," though. Even though I refer to myself as my dogs' "mommy," I am fully aware that they are not little furry people, and I treat them as they should be treated. What I don't like about the whole "dogs are property" thing is that people are free to do pretty much whatever they want to their property. I can neglect the upkeep on my house, car, etc., but I sure as hell won't neglect my dogs.

I voted owner, because I've been dealing with the screwy animal laws for a long time. My animals are mine. I pay the bills, feed them, vet them, do everything, and I don't want some moron calling them less than valuable. They may not be worth a lot of $$ to someone else, but to me they are priceless.

Nice Poll

I chose guardian/parent, too.
I see them as my 4-legged kids. My family views them as my "kids."
They are treated like they are suppost to be. I don't like the word" property" when it comes to dogs.
Property is something has no emtions or needs and something you can upgrade or change has you see fit.

Because Keller is like my "trial child"... OK that sounded bad. But he is.. I'm young, I don't have kids and this is the closest thing that I have to a child, so I treat him as one. I love him unconditionally, and discipline him when he needs it. I work with him on obedience and play and have fun with him. He knows when I'm sad, he can sense it, and I can sense when he doesn't feel good.

There's nothing more rewarding (to a person with no kids), when your puppy and you are cuddling together and he looks at you with those puppy eyes, gives you a lick on the cheek, and then rests his head on your chest... That's love.

hey

I picked guardian. Once he is grown, then i will be leader of the pack, but until then i got to protect him from stuff that would hurt him (well more than i would once he is grown)

this just sounded exactly what i would say....but then i voted ''other'''as i treat Bono as partly my friend and partly like my baby....and yeah these ''puppy eyes'' :)
