First off my 9 month old AB has about 25 toys of hers....the problem is whenever she is playing she leaves her toys alone and grabs something of my kids that she isnt supposed to have. I go over to her "tell her to leave it" and she drops the toy - I then sit back down and she grabs a different toy of my kids!!! Repeating this process all night long. Anyone have any tips? I cant take away all my kids toys!!!!

ok first off, she is a dog, do you honestly think she understands "her toys" versus "the kids toys" ? on the other hand, your children DO understand the difference, so teach them to put their toys away. i'm sorry but you can not ask a dog to reason, a toy on the floor is a toy on the floor.

Yup, the only thing you can do is keep those toys picked up. Or, keep the dog confined to an area of the house where the kids toys won't be laying around. Kids toys are much more fun to play with than doggie toys dontcha know!

Yep, its not the dogs fault that her toys and the kids toys are the same to her.

As my kids grew up they gave more and more of their stuffies to the dogs.... proud to share. Until then we stored stuffies in nets on the ceiling to protect them.

Put your kids' toys away or have them do so.
And put up 24 of your dogs' toys. Dogs should not have constant access to ALL their toys and in fact when you are not directly playing with the dog, you ought to put her toy up as well. Cuts down on the possibility of her "guarding" it with the kids.

Im having this happen alot too(since my kids arent used to havign a puppy around taking their toys )
what im doing(today actually) is tranfering all my kids toys to buckets with lids (cause our pup goes into the toy buckets and picks thru till she finds one she likes..LOL) so at least she cant get into the covered toy buckets any more...
what ive BEEN doing .. is when she gets into that mode where she wants all their toys i just put a gate up between the pup and the kids... blocking puppy away from the kids actually gives the dog some sleep time..since my kids are constantly wanting her to lick them..LOL
so it works out for us all.... and its not all day constantly so i dont feel bad doing it either.

Yeah didnt you know kid toys are much more fun than dog toys.

My pup will only usually play with cheap toys that are not meant for dogs. I got him a kong but he would rather have a racket ball or cheap wiffle ball. He loves those splash balls kids use in the pool, those are his favorite.
