think his kids are in college.

I am soooo sorry, i cant imagine what you are going thru. I lost a close aunt last year to cancer, but to be given that news about a spouse, parent or child is different.
You and your family will be in my thoughts.

My bride of almost 25 years and I went to the hospital yesterday for 2 main reasons and received mixed results: The xray turned out good and her chest drain tube was removed (good), but the visit with her Dr ( Oncologist) had pretty devistating news. The disease is beyond treatment, and the Dr suggested we start just treating the symptoms (comfort and Hospice were discussed). I was expecting this after talking to several friends that have recently gone through a similar situation and recognized some signs. My wife still has the final call but more as a formality, to get the Hospice people going. I'm taking a sabbatical for a while to give my wife (and children) all the attention, joy, memories and comfort I can offer.
Oh Tyco I wish that there were words!! I am so sorry that you are going through this your family will be in my prayers!!

My wife, Pam, peacefully said goodbye yesterday and went to meet her Holy Father in Heaven. She died at home in the arms of me, our 2 daughters, and her 2 best friends.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your wife. May she rest in peace.
Our prayers and thoughts will be with you and your family.

My wife has breast cancer. First time 10 years ago. Lots of medical treatments (surgery, chemo, radiation, hormone pills). 5 years passed so we thought it was cured. Popped back up in 2004. Went thru all the same meds (more radical surgery, chemo, radiation). Appeared it was gone again. This past summer, it showed up in her skin. The Sept PET/CAT scans showed that. Oral chemo for 9 months. PET/CAT scans done in Jan showed it's gone from her skin but now it's in her lungs, liver, bones. We start a weekly chemo for 8 weeks. Then the PET/CAT scans in mid-March show no improvement, even some worstening. So the chemo is changed to a different drug every 4 weeks. After the first dose, she is in bed for 2 weeks, her breathing is getting very labored. She is in the hospital now getting a chest drain to remove the fluid from around her lungs (went well) and they are trying to figure out the next step. Her mother is coming to town Fri, our kids are coming home from college tomorrow. Monday I almost thought I was loosing her she was so weak from not eating much and not breathing well due to the rapid fluid accumilation. Her immediate situation has improved, but long term, I just don't know what they are going to do or even can do next with the cancer.

Has anybody here ever reached this stage with a family member or friend ? What happened next ?
I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am for you, your lovely wife, your family, and anyone else affected by this terrible news.

I will say a prayer for you and yours.
