Hello, Ive been lurking around for the last couple of weeks and finally decided to register. Ive got a 4yr old male choc. Lab named Chico and a new 13 week old female AB (joshuakennels/brownscreek) named Maisy. This is my first time owning a AB, and so far she has been far far easier to train than any other staffy and lab ive owned in the past. Shes been progressing very quickly with her basic commands and fetching! I don't recall my lab fetching this quickly. :? More surprissingly is that she is just so laid back and chill yet so eager to play/learn when time. i really have high hopes she is gonna be the dream dog ive been waiting to own. :p

I'd really like to get her involved in a little weight pulling later on and maybe PP type stuff???

anyhow... i'm glad to be a member and look foward to meeting more of you and sharing future experiences with all.

welcome
I'm also a first time bully owner. I also feel the same way about my OEB being the best dog( so far ) i've ever had.
there is a ton of information here about bullies
Good luck with Maisy, she is a good looking girl

Welcome Evosol!! I'm also a first-time bully owner in E. washington, I've been on the board a couple of weeks now. If you don't mind me asking, where in E. Washington? I have NEVER seen another American bulldog since we moved to the west coast, nearly everyone I introduce my Sophie to has never even heard of them! Anyways, you will really enjoy this board, people are very nice and have alot of good information.

Welcome!!! You will absolutely love the American Bull Dog breed. I just lost my AB recently and she was the best dog a person could ever have. Like you said - would nap the day away but when its time to play....its time to play!!

I live just right outside of Spokane. Yeah... I don't see many AB's around this area either. Most people usually ask, "is that a pitbull?" and then i have to tell them its an AB, and explain that why its not an EB and all that. :?

where in E. Wa are you? and have you ever attended any of the weight pull events in the tricity area?

Welcome! Love the name Maisy!

Gotta ask. What's a flirt stick :?:

Kathleen and Chance in GA.
A flirt stick is just a rope or string tied to a stick and the string portion is used to play "keep away" so that the dog will chase it everywhich way. its really good exercise and cordination practice. (for the dog! )

I am also located in washington, still shopping for a dog though.

I am located right out of tri cities but have only attended one weight pulling event and a couple schutzhund in tri cities.

Did you get you AB local? or somewhere close to spokane?

The family i got my pup from, they say that they will breed their dogs every 2 years or so. They are located north of spokane, actually just a couple of miles from where i live. They own old southern white type dogs.

My husband and I got Sophie from an AB rescue in Pennsylvania when we lived in NYC. We are in Spokane, now. Evosol, I haven't attended any weight pull events, we wanted to involve Sophie in weight pull, she's buff, but she was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia so that's out. She's just a happy house dog now! She loves her flirt stick, too, though hers is actually a cat toy! Is there in event in the tricities coming up?

oh thats too bad your AB has hip dysplasia. :(

Do you have any more pics of her?

I hear that there are weight pull events once a month or so in the tri-cities. I'll probably wait a couple of months before i start having my girl drag around a peice of rope.
