I recently got a English bulldog/fox terrier mix. His name is William and is 11 weeks old. I have been starting to wonder if he is really a english bulldog though because at 11 weeks he is already 12 inches tall, in the info on bulldogbreeds.com for the English Bulldog they say they should be between 12-14 inches. Fox terriers are supposed to be 14-16 inches when fully grown. I have been thinking that maybe he is half olde english bulldogge instead. Does anyone know about how tall an almost three month old bulldog would be? And is there anyway to find out exactly what kind of bulldog he is? Thanks.

It's going to be really hard to tell anything, because he is a mix. And no one will be able to say 100%. But he is a very very cute mix. :)

I would say that there is bull dog in there because of the body set of the chest to the tail. The legs are longer than they should be and I am a little surprised to see his head be so skinny at this point. I would say that this dog does have bull dog in him but the terrier traits came out more.

It's hard to say how tall an Olde English Bulldogge should be since they can look like and English Bulldog or an American Bulldog...or anything in between.

Sorry, i just saw you were from New Zealand so i decided to convert it to KG, 6.35 kg-6.8 kg is about what he weighs. We go to the vet in a week so i will have a more accurate weight then. I also find it a little strange because he is half fox terrier and half bulldog, and his weight is much more along the lines of a bulldog. Not quite as much, but fox terriers only weigh 15-20 lbs (6.8-9.07 kg) when they are fully grown. Also, proportionate to his body his head is very small.

Yeah your right he does look a lot like "Nipper". I am just wondering what other people think of him, not because its important to me what he is as a breed, because ill love him regardless, but it just seemed like there was something weird about where we got him. I live in Bloomington, IN and go to Indiana University and we bought him at a local pet store, not one of the puppy mill mall stores, but one ran and owned by veterinarians. When i went in and first saw him they told me he was half EB and half rat terrier, but then a few hours later when i went into buy him his papers said fox terrier/english bulldog, so just the confusion on their part made me wonder if they really knew what he was. I only really want to know what he is so i can figure out what to expect when he is older as far as health issues, etc...

well, that is your problem right there.
nobody with ethics, veterinarians or not, would SELL a mixed breed dog when the shelters are packed with them.
am not picking on you, we all make mistakes (Orson is a pet shop dog) but i know now
NEVER EVER trust a pet store!
ALL EVIL

The thing is is that they also sell pure bred dogs, the shop solicits local families who have had their own dogs knocked up unexpectedly, to bring in the resulting puppies. So in a way its a outlet for puppies of unwanted pregnancies. The puppies only come from our county and three of the suronding counties. At the risk of sounding naive i have heard a lot of good things about this place including from the Monroe County humane society.
