This is a little bit of a long story folks, so please hang with me...
Dylan has had consistently bloody stool for over six months. A bright red spot at the end of his bowel movement. He has been tested and treated for worms a million times...every single test was negative. So, I was told just to watch it.
About two or three months ago I noticed that when Dylan would have a bowel movement that a bright red, fleshy bubble would push out on the left side of his anus. Keep in mind there was still blood occurring in his stool. I had three rectals done and no one could find any reason for this. It was suggested that Dylan had a colon that was slipping and that I should just keep an eye on it. This condition never seemed to worsen, in fact it seemed that this bubble was popping out less frequently recently. Oh, and Dylan would bleed from his rectum periodically after going to the bathroom during this time. It was just a drip or two as we were walking.
Now, today...this is what has me worried. Dylan passed a small fleshy lump (about the size of an m&m) when he went to the bathroom on our afternoon walk. He then bled from his rectum for about an hour. I mean bled, there were splashes down his back legs and there is a spot on his bed. Dylan has not once seemed to be in pain. He does not lick at his butt or anything like that. He does not get into things and there has been no vomiting.
I am taking him into work with me tomorrow to see Dr. Carlson and again on Tuesday to see the other vet, Dr. Steers. I know that one of those vets (who is very motivated by money) will tell me to schedule an ultrasound and probably a colonoscopy while the other will probably once again tell me to watch it and see what happens. I am very seriously considering taking Dylan to another vet on my day off this week...even though I will lose my job if my boss finds out. I am very worried about my boy as I have never seen another animal present with these symptoms.
If anyone has any experience or ideas about what may be going on here PLEASE tell me. I just can't figure it out and am worried about my Dyl-Weed.
Thank you for your help.
