Hello all!! I have not been on BDB in MANY months and have not even lurked! So much has happened in the past 6 months... First off, I am going to start off with the the good news in my life, starting with my graduation from Russell Sage with myMasters Degree in Nursing and am now a Family Nurse Practitioner and began my new job with a gynecologist who owns her own private practice in January 2009. It is just her and I in a busy practice and I just adore what I do. I am getting a large following and am so happy to have a job that I love.
Other good news: I had a bad day at work and had to tell a friend of mine that she had breast cancer after my discovering a lump in her breast. After work, instead of going home I decided to go to our local humaine society which is right around the corner from my house. I volunteer there often. I walked in and the head of the humaine society handed me a small cat that was hypothermic to warm up with a heating pad and heated blankets. I held the cat for an hour all the while I was listening to the story of what happened to this poor kitten. Some waco put duct tape around the cats neck, put the cat in a sports bag and put duct tape all over it so the cat could not get out and was thrown in the back of a bush. The cat was in the bag overnight and it had rained all night. In the morning, a woman was taking a walk and heard something coming from a bush. she jumped up and saw a bag, but called the police to come open the bag. Inside was the cat that I was warming that was hypothermic and almost died. Needless to say, the cat came home with us three days later. Her name is lucky girl. Pictures below. I will post the link to the news story about her if I can find it.
Bad news... I had to have back surgery June 4th. I have scoliosis and had surgery in 1995 for my scoliosis and I had to have the rods removed and new ones placed from my neck to my tailbone and they did it from the front and the back. They also removed all of my lumbar discs and replaced them with bone plugs. So my life the past 3 months has been a lot of pain and rehab. It was the most painful thing that I have ever been throgugh in my life. I am currently on disability and plan to go back to work November or early December. It could always be worse- I always have to tell myself that.
Maple is doing great! She enjoyed the summer, swimming and walking every day! She swims so well! I have to take a video of it! People cannot believe that our EB can swim as far as she can- it is real funny! I hope everyone has been well and I am hoping to be on the boards more often!
