Tums are really just calcium, designed to balance the pH of the tears. I've never heard anything about it being dangerous before. I suppose in a young pup you may want to limit calcium intake simply from a bone development standpoint.

we just came from Duke's follow up allergy appt at the University of Penn with their dermatology team. I asked about the tums and he said he has never heard of this for treating the tear stains. He believes the best way to avoid them or clear them is to keep them dry. he told us to use the unscented baby wipes and desitin as it is almost the same as diaper rash.. BUT he did say that Tums are absolutely harmless to give your dog and if we wanted to try them it would be fine. Just wanted to share this information!
Here she is as a pup.....she didn't tear till she was older, say 10 months. She looks so clean here!
I think she still looks absolutely precious.. sometimes I think the stains are more noticable to us than others.. have you tried the malaseb wipes?? maybe she just needs something a little bit stronger than the baby wipe? we only use the malaseb once a week and the regular wipes the other days.. The malaseb wipes are great for yeast but if we use too often he gets dry.

We used Malaseb Wipes everyday for 2 weeks, then every other day, and now like Duke we only need to wipe them once a week.

We were having a problem with our buldog also and used Angel Eyes. They cleared up in a couple of weeks and have not been back since. We sprinkle a little in his food and he has not had any tearing stains. We also use filtered or bottle water for his bowl. Hope this helps.

A lot of responsed but no one mentioned the Diet Sprite remedy. I know I read it on here a long time ago and everyone seemed to agree that it worked.

Lucy doesn't have them luckily, this is for a friends OEB.

Shoot, just bought Diamond Eyes......now I see you have Angel Eyes! Oops. Well, maybe this stuff will work. I'm wondering if I should clip the hair off in her creases to get rid of the red stain? Then use the stuff?
