What are your thoughts about a 6 month old AB/pit mix sleeping on the bed with my 14 year old son? I have let her sleep there ever since we got her at 8 weeks old and she has been fine. Stays there all night but at 6:00 a.m., like clockwork, she comes in my room to snuggle with me and my husband for 15 minutes. No accidents all night. I keep reading things saying that it's not a good thing for the bullie to be on the bed. Why? She is crated during the day while we are gone and then allowed to roam when we are out. And yes, she does sit on our laps at night while we are watching tv and sometimes she will get "tucked in" in her bed in the living room while we are all out there.. see attached. I keep hearing that dogs should NEVER be on the bed because it could cause behavior issues? How many of you let your bullie sleep with you??

I don't let my dogs on the bed or other furniture. That's just my personal preference.

Unless your puppy is growling at you when you move her or tell her to get down, or constantly challenging your authority, she can keep sleeping with you guys.

And Welcome to BDB!

Bones has his side of the bed. Which is a pain in the butt when he has to readjust his position he wakes me up or ( I sleep with window open year round) he hears something and lets out a woof in the middle of the night. But, all in all if he irritates me too much I shoo him off onto his bed which is at the foot of "our" bed! LOL! He doesn't fight/growl me he just reluctantly moves on.

If I tell harley to get off the bed she does 'the eyes' looks really confused and upset. she knows just how to get her way with me! to the OP my daughter is still in her cot but both her and harley end up in my bed in the mornings and cuddle up to each other. they're both sleeping on the sofa by me as I type this!

LOL! I wish I could have Sulley in bed with us! I miss sleeping with a pup at night. Since we got Sulley and are housebreaking him, rule is - kennel at night and when we are gone.

I can't wait until Luna can sleep with me :) At the foot of the bed, of course, I have rules, haha. She sleeps in her crate, for training purposes for now, but eventually I hope I can trust her to sleep with me at night and not jump off and get into stuff while I'm sleeping.

We take naps on the couch ALL the time though :)

I lived alone for years and Mags always slept with me - Mark doesn't let the dogs sleep in bed with us and that led to a lot of confusion for Mags and I really miss her cuddling. But, when daddy is gone, they both still sleep with me;)

We used to be fine with allowing Atticus on the bed with us. As of last week he will never be on the bed and/or couch again. Until he learns who is boss. If that ever happens he can come back on...but he's proven to us that he hasn't earned the right of being on the bed. But he's also a jerk smack.

My husband works crazy hours and lately he comes home before dawn. Omi is spread out on his side (most times ) and it's funny to hear him trying to move her quietly without waking me up.
I hear a lot of "please", "come on", "oof" and "you got to be kidding me".

No respect for daddy!!! Usually I sit up and say "Omi - OFF" and she'll jump down. It may be the way I say it though. I'm kinda not a morning person. Either that or the no makeup and wicked hair frightens her. :evil1:

Bella usually notices that I'm heading off to bed, and runs to stake out her spot. It is usually diagonally, and in the middle, leaving me to try and find somewhere around her to get comfortable. Doesn't bother me a bit.

We tried to allow Princess to sleep in the bed with us but she is the worst kind of bed hog. My husband gets mad when he tries to move though, so we've opted to kick her back out. =)

As long as your dog understands who is boss and gets off the furniture when told then there is no problem with letting them sleep with you or your kids. Now if the dog begins to growl or anything when told to get off then there will be a problem..

Before I got Budha, I said "no dogs on the bed, no dogs on the furniture!" All my friends with dogs said NEVER let your dog sleep in the bed with you. Then I got him and all that went out the window. Now when I can't hear him snoring I start feeling around on the bed for him cause now sometimes I guess I annoy him and gets off the bed and on the floor, then I show him who's the boss, and tell him to get his butt right back up here. LOL!
