Humping is a dominance behavior. Your dog thinks he is in charge. You need to take him back to basics and get some obedience on him. Do not allow him any human priveledges (no being on the couch or bed, you walk in the door first) make him work for his food..you need to regain control. In the meantime, if he humps, tell him NO, push him off and make him sit or down.
It completely makes sense that a male humps to show dominance, but is it true for the female (english bulldog) as well? She will sometimes do it if I am pushing against her chest between the shoulders? Is that to try to tell me that she's te boss and wants to get past me?
yup females do it to it has nothing to do with the gender of the dog. I would suggest a gentle leader it has work wonders on my pit bull as well as my friends unruly AKITA the way that they go around the head is the way that a pack leader would handle a dog in it's pack therefore it makes the dog feel like you are the dominant.
