I have a 5 month old female English Bulldog. She is great but she loves to bit hands instead of toys. And when you walk she love to bit at legs and feet. Especially my wifes feet. She has gotten my wife a few times and my wife has done the crying and screaming. (Really tears and pain) We consistently say "no" firmly and will put her in a pen if she is biting hard. What else can I do to get the point accross to her faster? How long does the biting phase go on for? My last bulldog didn't have this problem. He never bit this hard or bit my hands as often.

Please Help.

Oh, I feel your pain. I literally have dozens of scars from Odie biting me as a pup. He was the worst nipper EVER. You need to associate nipping with a negative reaction, like a quick squirt of water from a squirt bottle. That works for lots of dogs, but it didnt' work for mine. It got to the point where he thought being squirted was a game, so he'd bite even more just to be squirted.

The only thing that worked for Odie was gently holding his nose down, and giving a firm "NO". If he continued, I'd put him outside for a bit. Now, if he puts his mouth around my arm or hand, I just say "NO" and he releases. You should also give them a toy to chew on. When he starts biting you, replace your hands or feet with his toy. Teach him that it's okay to chew on his toys, but not on people.

Besides squirtting with water you can try shaking a can with change or rocks in it. Also, squell really loud when she does and walk away. It's the same thing her sibblings would do and they don't want to be ignored they want attention. Wait a minute and go back to playing. And repeat. Consistancy is the key.

I stopped CC from doing that by shouting ouch real loud and stuffing one of her toys in her mouth. now if you say ouch she goes and gets a toy and holds it in her mouth.

Helped

The squilling and acting hurt seemed to work very well. My wife or I would squil and she would jump back and then would try to lick our faces. Everytime the squil happed from biting she was licking our faces for 2 or 3 minutes straight. I hope that it continues to work well. :)
