Anyone ever given their dog deer antlers to chew??

Looks like they'd be a good long lasting chew.
But i think it has lots of calcium which concerns me :?

Antlers are alot like finger nails. And didn't your grandmother warn you about chewing your fingernails. They all go to your appendix

 Then I'm in trouble!! I chew mine up!
I went to horseback riding camp when I was younger and they used to give their dog the hoof clippings from the horses when the shoemaker guy came in....kinda the same idea i guess.
Weird Never heard of this before
i hadnt either, just came across it by accident while looking up
dog toys.
Our dogs love the hoof trimmings! LOL...I sweep up the little bits, but they can have the big trimmings! :D

My dogs have been chewing on antlers since i was a child.. my old dog used to find them in the woods when we were camping, he had at least 10, and now that he has passed on Asia inherited them.. so 10 years later and they are still lasting chew toys! It was cute, he would grab the middle of the antler and the long parts would wrap around his head.
I'm guessing it would be fine, they sell hoofs which are sort of the same as antlers.

Watch out, santa.. :p

Antlers are supposed to be very healthy for chewing. There are several companies that are making supplements from the velvet as well. Check out this site, they even have a product for dogs! http://www.velvetenergy.com/composition.php I haven't bought any for my dogs but maybe I will for Christmas. My dogs aren't crazy about nylabones and bully sticks don't last very long at my house. Thanks for sharing the link!
Antlers are actually more like bone, horns are more like fingernails.
Here's an interesting read on the differences, how they grow, etc.
