hi ive got a staffy hes nearly one had all the test done at vets and he had mange dermilogical he had advecate to cure him but hes no better has anyone got any good advice hes cost me nearly £450.00 and still the same please help thx :twisted:

can you post pictures of him.... also, you stated he's been cured of the mange.... i don't know what avecate (sp?) is but stop using it...sounds like it's doing more damage than good right now.


maybe he just needs time to heal and for the hair to grow back. i wouldn't put a sweater on him, leave him naked to his skin can breathe....

Hi shirley.If your sure it is mange.Were theyre scratching all the time.and bleeding with scratching,Go to your local chemist.Ask for benzole benzoate. It will cost your a couple of quid. And it will work wonders. This is used for children who have scabies,This is the same as mange in dogs Its used for canker cats and dogs get in there ears.And for horses with sweet itch.It fantastic i can tell you!!! Just try it you have nothing to lose! Only £2OR £3 QUID. Do let me know how you go on? maggie

Frontline kills mange also, although it may take a few mo to work.

When my dog had demodex the vet used a product called Mitaban. It's a dip.

Dunno if your pup has demodectic or sarcoptic (aka scabies) mange though.

It's the ivermectin in Frontline that kills the mange - if it's scabies. Advocate has the same drug, though I don't know about strength. And yeah, that method does take a while to work. If ever I get a foster with scabies (scarcoptic mange), I give two ivermectin injections, one week apart, and that's all it takes.

If it's demodex mange, the treatment takes much longer. Mitoban dips (you can use diluted Tactic, too) for 6 weeks. :roll:

It's been a while since you originally posted this, shirley. Any change in his condition?

thx for all your advice ive had advecate my pup lost all his fur with that lol i will try what maggie suggests benzole benzoate will keep you up to date with the progress :lol:
