Bad News:
My puppy Carter (7 weeks old) is still bleeding out of his little boy pee-pee. I called the vet last night pretty concerned and here is what she said:

If carter still is bleeding within 24 hours, then i need to come back in with him. She said the meds may be being rejected by his body, or he may have other deformities besides his blindness.. and may have a kink in his urethea.
I have no idea what I am going to do if that is the case. I can imagine that will cost big $$$ :( I love this puppy.. but he has me very worried. I did ask about maybe a stone being in there but she said most likely not due to his young age. (takes a month or two to develop a stone)

If I remember correctly, it was a BYB and probably would care less.
Poor little Ray..

I would maybe get a second opinion because your vet should have solved what was wrong with him by now.
And that's wrong what she said about the stones, a had a cat with Ceribral Hypoplasia (a major birth defect stemming
from a genetic problem with caused him to not develop correctly and have an aweful immune system).

One of his many problems was that he couldn't pee because his body would create stones constantly and he couldn't
pass them. To think of it now, he would pee blood. Now, changing his diet didn't help because his own body was
creating the crystals. The only way we fixed it was by going to a specialist and getting him.. a sex change.

Yes, they spilt open his penis and turned it into a vagina so that the crystals could pass without becoming full stones.
He never had the problem again. We actually got help from the ASPCA because they wanted $7,000 for the surgery
and my vet couldn't do it (or else he would've done it for free).

oh god 7,000?!?! thats a big steeeeeep!

Yeah that bitch who sold me the dog says the reason for Carter's problem's is because i must have thrown him around or let him fall down steps.

too bad the vet said "congenial... not due to trauma"
I'm giving the little guy until saturday (1 WEEK since he got his meds) and if he is still bleeding.. theres more to it then simply an infection and he is going back to the vet. :?

we will get em fixed up. I'll find a way im sure.

I myself wouldn't wait till Saturday.
You should have sen some slight improvement in him by now
with the meds.Like the vet said the meds may not be strong
enough. You should get him in right away and if you can take a urine sample with you
so they can test it for crystals and what not.
Keep us updated on the lil guy and wishes for a speedy healthy pup.

I would call the "breeder" back and let them know what is going on and that
you have paperwork from the vet saying that his issues are not from any
sort of trama.I myself would try getting money out of them to help
cover the cost of all of this but most BYB could give a rats a$$ but
throw out there that if it comes down to it legal action will come into play if they
dont offer there help.Worth a try anyway.Good luck

Well Kelly you are right. She does not give a rats A$$. I have done everything from call the police to the Humane society on her. She does not care. She dodges my call. She is a shady lady.. probably already used the $$ on drugs. I don't feel like just showing up an getting shot. It was in a shady part of Hbg... i was dumb to go there to bgin with but her dogs were dolls and i thought I would get the little guy and give em a fantastic life. It just so happened i screwed myself over.
As far as the meds, the vet said they were fairly strong. Its a 2 week med tho, so i figured get halfway through and see how things go. He is still able to pee so its not filling his bladder to the point of harm... he just strains still, breaking blood vessels in his penis and the vet said that if it continues i need to bring em in.
(i did call the emrgency line last night.)
I just love the little guy.... i need to figure out how to post pics.. u'd fall in love too <3

Do you have any kind of contract on your dog? A check written to the woman?

ACTUALLY~And this is the honest truth, I went to the dr TODAY because I was passing blood in my urine last night, alot, like bright red pee(graphic  )

Before I went, I was nervous, I had no idea that I may have a UTI because if I remember correctly, UTIs are painful. And I have no pain!

I went on webmd, and did some searching. I wa swlooking to see if maybe bleeding ulcers and such would show blood in urine.

I came across something on the symptoms page, related to this poor pooch.

It was just what you said, maybe a defored/bent/kinked, etc urethra(sp?) It stated that this is often a sign of blood in urine for males that do not have a UTIAND have undergone med trtmnt w/ no changes.

Which means, often mis doagnosed.

Also, my attorney had a pooch with the crystal problem, and I am surprised at royalties response as I cannot believe what she says they did to that dog. The treatment for that is usually never a sex change, it is a diet change!

Anyway, when you take him back, ask them for an estimate to fix him if it is a urethra problem, poor little guy.

They also say if it is that problem, sometimes theres no pain, but sometimes the feeling of having to pee is uncontrollable. Prolly not a good time for housetraining!!

He was on C/D (if I remember correctly) Hill's Prescription Diet which was to help his crystals, but he created them
at such a rapid rate that the diet didn't help. They had to keep putting tubes up him to him go and syringes in
the bladder to further remove his urine. After a few months of this, they decided to just give him the operation.
It allowed him to still have stones, but be able to pass them.

Did the vet say if there was anything you could do to make your pup comfortable until then?
That is such a long time for a little pup - and yours is not the strongest right now. Too bad he cannot see him any sooner.

Carter doesnt seem to be in any pain. THe vet said he would be lethargic and not want to eat much buit its the opposite. He is runnin around (into things of course) and eating like crazy. He can still be.... just strains to bleed a few timews an evening..... and that concerns me. If i go to the vet on sat and there is more then what we thought wrong...l im taking that breeders a$$ to the civil court. that will be the last straw.. ill suck up any fees that are included if need be

Pitbull Royalty is refering to 'perineal urethrostomy' where they perform a gender reassingment in chronically blocked or irreversibly blocked male cats. I briefly had one from rescue - I named him sao bian (he urinates in chinese). He couldn't get used to living with dogs and spent all his time in the bathroom so I returned him to rescue.
