can you guys recommend any good breeding books ? i would like one that outlines the pro's and con"s of line breeding and normale breeding. i have found some books on this on the internet but would like to hear from you guys any books you recommend. thanks

they are not "breeding" books per say but willis's "genetics of the dog" and padgett's "control of canine genetic disease" are two of the best i have read to date

You scare me with your aspirations.

good........i would like to research alot before i do anything....what's so scary ? i have surrounded my self with some knowledgeable people here in phoenix(az american bull dog club) i am learning things i didn't know. i thought this forum was also a place to ask questions and learn. yes i would like to breed my own working dogs. when the time is right. right now i will just work on getting my male ready for some working titles. don't you have aspirations ?????????? or did you just wake up one day and know everything about dogs and how to train them. did you not start some where.

atleast i'm not just throwing litters out there and trying to train my dogs my self on bite work. you are always so negative with everyone that has questions . like everyone should be a proffessional BEFORE they get a dog. :notworthy: IMO i am taking the right steps. asking people i know here and seeing what people on here have to say. maybe this board is for pre-madonna's.. :blah5: sorry for the rant dood but [email protected] ease up

Don't worry about it. There's always someone who wants to chew you up and spit you out on here. Thats why I don't bother asking questions anymore!

I'm with Willis has some very good books out there about breeding! He has written several books about genetics and breeding.

i order the dog genetics yesterday. should make for some good reading.
