I've known of an EB that has had a cherry eye before... and the surgery (done with lazer) was $600+... their sueters didn't heal correctly though so they needed to take it back to get them fixed, they had to pay for pain meds and anestetic, but didn't have to pay for the surgery itself or the cost for the vet to do it. And from what they've told me... it was required. I don't know much about it, but i thought I'd share what i've heard.

I've heard from different sources and i'm not so sure which to believe... Is a cherry eye herititary or something that just happens?

Yes, surgery is usually required for Cherry eye.

Here are some sites with info and pictures.

If it doesn't look like the pictures on these sites, it may be entropion or any number of other things.

I would take your pup to the vet. Eye trouble is NOT something you want to mess around with. Not only does it make the dog miserable, it also can lead to serious health issues.
