Last nite after our walk, Orson started hacking like he was almost
dry heaving. Not producing anything tho. Kept doing that for couple
hours. After that stopped he started "honking", like he was snorting. Then when sleeping last nite, he kept sneezing.

Not sure it's kennel cough cause he was boarded at a kennel, but that was at beginning of this month.
He seems to feel fine, appetite good and he still wants to play. :?

Could it be allergies?

(he's been waking up "honking" about once a week for a while now)

It could be KC. Is there any coughing after drinking? Also they cough up phelm towards the end of KC which is a good sign.

See your vet because it can develope into chest infection. But mainly with Roxy I put a dash of lemon in her water, which eases the cough, vet said exersice is good as helps bring the cough and phelm on.

But def see the vet.

well, i gave him a benadryl when i left for work and now that i'm home
he hasnt been doing any of those things. He just played fetch for 30 min.,
so he seems fine. Makes me think it's allergies.

I read about "reverse sneezing" when looking up his symptoms online.
It is a "honking" fit that mostly small breeds ( :? ) get where
for just a few seconds the dog will do a reverse sneeze where they suck
in thru nose, not blow out and it sounds like a honk or a snort.
Like i said Orson does that alot at nite and i figured it's just allergiens that
get into his nose.

If he has another hacking fit, i will take him to vet monday.

It could be allergies. Kallie had this last week. We had put a new flea med. on her and a little while later she started coughing. She coughed for about a day. We gave her the alcohol free Robitussin. Our pharmacist said she keeps a bottle just for her poodle especially at this time of year. We gave Kallie a 1/2 teaspoon and it stopped her coughing. Have fun trying to get him to drink it. We had a tough time with Kallie and we finally resorted to mixing it with some peanut butter and she got it like that. Hope this helps b/c I know it's no fun having a sick dog
