I have recently adopted pete an almost now 9 month old am staff/bull terrier mix or so we think. He has very high energy and hell be standing one minute and the next jumping back at his back side like something is attacking him. he will even lunge at his tail and chew on it alittle then he looks at both side like somethings going to get him. i have heard just to leave him that if i comfort him i am just egging on the behavior but i dont want him to be crazy! just not sure how to handle. plus im in Minnesota and looking for a trainer only had one class. it wasnt quite what i had wanted, i want more than the basic sit stay which we still dont do. if any one knows i would be so happy.

Hmmm, Orson will do something like that occationally.
It almost looks like something had bit his bottom and he will whip
around to try to get back there...like it's a bad itch out of nowhere.
But then he'll be ok. :?

Obi does this aswell, he's lying sleeping then all of a sudden he flips round as if something has bit him. He nibbles at his bum, bites his tail and then goes back to sleep. I've often wondered why he's doing it, maybe it's just a trait?

My dog does the same exact thing except he will bite back there for awhile. I have looked and I do not see anything there. Maybe it is just a trait in them. And he is ALWAYS chewing on his tail and I always give him toys but he perfers his tail, he is a freak!

tail

i ave figured out the tail thing as well, he will jum at anything that moves and he will get a glimps of his tail and whip around and jump at it. i think he just likes anything that is moving.

Grizwald is a pro at this thing we call "beesting butt." We'll be out walking, or he'll be just hanging around home perfectly calm, and suddenly he'll do this crazy chasing-his-own-butt move, biting at something we can't see. It's super funny, he'll jump and twist like an imaginary bee is stinging his butt, and gets a psycho look on his face. Then he forgets all about it and goes back to chilling out or walking normally or whatever. We figure he's just a nutty little freak-pup and sees things we can't!
