Cut Paw :(

Take him to the vet. They'll know what to do for his foot.

I feel like I've been to the vet a million times, and Linc is only 7 months. He had 2 surgeries for cherry eye and a massive case of the worst runs i've ever seen. So I'd like to avoid that place if possible.... Someone suggested I wrap it up and put his elizabethean collar for a few days. I just dont want to go to the vet and they wrap it up for like $100 again, after Im still paying off the last like $800. ...if theres no way I can help myself, I will bring him.. I dont want him to hurt... Havent gotten many responses on this post though and Im sure somones dog has cut their paw before. PLEASE let me know what the vet did for you or what you did for yourself.

The bleeding stopped and we're going to clean it out as well as we can.. apply some polysporin and liquid bandaid, then wrap it up with some gauze and a sock over, so he wont get at it..

That is what i did for Orson's cut paws.
We were playing "keep away" with him on concrete and he
shredded his paws when he would come to a stop.
I felt really bad!! All 4 feet had pads that had big hunks of skin out
of them. You could tell he hurt cause he was trying to be light-footed when he walked.
But i just cleaned them, put neosporin on and got this bandage gauze from pet store and wrapped all paws then put sock over. Then had to
duct tape sock at top cause it kept slipping off.
They healed fast and in a couple days they had scabed over.
I just didnt walk him for a week till he healed.

Get come baby socks and put those on his feet to cover them while he heals.........In addition, to the liquid bandaids and nesporin it works like a charm Everytime, I call my Vet she always says try nesporin 1st them bring my dog in if that doesn't work

Lincoln is being a big baby about this. It doesnt bleed anymore and we soaked his foot last night to clean off the dry blood. Then we put some polysporin and sprayed some liquid (NON Sting) bandaid on. He yelped like the spray hurt, but actually yelped even before I sprayed; anticipating pain.... Its looking better though. After cleaning the blood off I noticed he actually pulled the nail up a bit (didnt break off) and thats where the cut is. My boy is so accident prone...

Gazar gave great advice. I also suggest an e-collar so the dog will quit licking/chewing at it.

These bullys nails have a tendency to lift up off the nail bed, especially after they
have been digging. Sometimes it will bleed a little bit. Clara seems to do this at least once a month
with one nail or the other. They will work that nail until they have chewed the lifted part off.[/quote]

Gazar... I'm pretty sure that's what happened! It looks as though he lifted the nail up and it almost looked like the nail is dieing. I think it may fall off on its own? In the mean time, we're soaking it in water and a little soap, then liquid bandaid. Do you think the salt water this weekend will hurt when we take him swimming?
