Okay guys.. This is really heartbreaking for me. I'm taking Toby in to the vet tomorrow (while Diva gets her last shot) to get tested for Diabetes. Does anyone know anything about how this disease effects dogs? My boyfriend's mother has been telling me for months to have him tested because of his intake of water. Well, I called the vet last week to find out pricing of tests and insulin and what not. It's going to cost roughly $100 a month for insulin and $30 for needles. The vet also said it will cause him to go blind (cataracts) with or without insulin.. I'm really worried about him because he's my baby. I lost Nina, my chihuahua, last summer and although he's healthy right now for the most part, I don't want to loose him so soon too! I love my baby boy more than you can imagine. I know when you have more than one dog, you shouldn't have favorites, but he is! I can't help it! I can't imagine him not being here.. I don't know what to do... Can anyone give me information on this disease? What are the chances of a 1 year old dog having diabetes?? I'm actually pretty crushed over the whole situation. He has shown signs of cataracts since he was about 6 months old. He can't tell who anyone is unless you're right ontop of him... Grrr... why him???
