Took the 2 after pics today.
I thought he was fat so i put him on diet..seems to have
paid off so far.
Can you tell he's lost weight?? Looks better esp. in the waist area.
I didnt really realize he was chubby till I took the
"after" pics and compared to beg. of month pics.
Hmmm, guess he was starting to look like a sausage

I did too!!
Until i read up on how to tell if your dog is overweight...
and i tried to feel his ribs but i couldnt. Hidden under layer of fat, so i knew he had to go on diet.
Now i am starting to be able to feel his ribs.

I wish that I could lose weight that quickly
ME TOO!!! Wish someone would put me on a diet!

What a handsome man! I had to do the same thing with Heidi. When I took her to the vet 3 months ago I couldn't believe she was weighing in at 99 lbs! The vet said she wasn't fat but could stand to lose a little. I cut down on her intake and she lost 7 lbs. I can feel her ribs again!

He looks really good. I notice in the pictures too. Moose is FINALLY eating good and today I put his prong collar on to go for a walk and it is tighter then it was just last week. I think he is finally filling out. He is almost 17 months. Before he was kind of thin. Anyways back to you , he is looking really good and keep up the good work. You pup will love you for it. :D

 Didnt realize Heidi was that big! She looks good too.

I was feeding him 4 cups DVP day, I cut it down to 2 cups.
He was packing on the pounds due to it being so hot here so he doesnt get many walks.

I figured with his luxating patella knees, he doesnt need ANY extra weight.
He was 75 pd. when he went to vet at beg. of month...vet didnt think he was chunky :? oh well, they dont know everything!

Thanks everyone! :D

He is looking good. You are right, it is easier on their hips not to be carrying extra weight.
Good for you for keeping a check on it.

******Wow, 4 cups is a lot!!

*******Our vet thought Heidi looked fine too. But after I questioned him a little more he said she would be best at 10 lbs. lighter. I try to keep Chico really lean because of his hips too. There's nothing worse for joints than extra weight. Orson looks great though!

This is what a OEB breeder on another site said about Orson's pics:
Well I don't know. I'm sure you know your dog better than we do, but I don't consider a dog fat if they have a tuck up. How old is your dog? He looks skinny in all the pictures to me. I like when they have some meat on their ribs. I know it's not healthy for them to be fat, but it's not healthy to be to skinny either, and if he's under three then he's still growing, and I rather have a llittle puppy fat on them. Just give it some thought. Your dog is nice. No offense meant by my comments. Just my opinion.
:? I still dont think he's "skinny", leaner yes. But i am just NOW starting to
feel his ribs, and barely at that! He is just over a year, but with surgery on one knee and the other does luxate a little too,
he doesnt need ANY extra pounds.

Oh, PITBULLROYALTY....it's ok...he's HALF EB and only HALF OEB...
but he was sold as OEB...so whatever
All i know for sure is he's bully!

Whatever he is, he's so cute!
:D

No dog needs extra pounds, it doesn't matter that he's not full grown yet.
As long as you're providing the right nutrition for a growing pup, extra pounds don't help any.
They only break down the body faster.
