i know it has most prob been asked a million times but are they really a walking disaster considering all their health problems? can somebody please give me informtaion on how they feel their bullei has been healthwise?

I have a 1.5-year old EB named Lola and so far <knock wood> she's been fantastic. Thing is, I was grossly uneducated about BYBs and pet stores and she was a pet store purchase. Not an impulse as we knew this was the breed we wanted, but I'll never purchase from a pet store again. In any case, she's been 100% healthy thus far with only some very, very mild seasonal springtime allergies (itchies and a bit of patchy coat) that has been almost entirely eliminated by an upgrade in her diet (she can be on either Nutro Lamb/Rice or Solid Gold Holistic Blendz) and the occassional Benedryl when she's having an itchy day. NuStock also has helped a great deal in aiding in the patchy hair regrowth. Other than that, she's fantastic - no breathing problems, no eye problems. We just love her. She's exactly what we were looking for in a dog - she's laid-back and goes with the flow, loves all of us (though she's mainly mine) and is foolproof around all three of my children (age 11, 8, 2.5) and cat. I couldn't ask for better. I'm now seriously considering adding a second EB to our family.

I have 2 EB's. Really no health issues to speak of except the normal daily upkeep. Molly had cherry eye but this is the most common thing in EB's and easily fixed.
I would recommend research, research, research.
I would also recommend lurking on the forum of bulldogdomain.com everyone there owns EB's and all of their health issues and daily cleaning is topic.

If you do your research there are healthy lines out there.
I am able to do obedience, agility,conformation and rally with mine.
Just ask the breeder what they have been doing with their lines.

Both Bear and Molly look like a healthy version of most of these EBs
I've seen. I dont think they are the norm :?
Just to think of one off-hand, i think of the Georgia bulldog's
bulldog..that thing looks like one giant vet bill!! Very fat and very short nosed.
Molly looks like what I thought OEBs were supposed to look like (even
tho she's EB), athletic and musclular and still have that EB face.

English bullies health issue
Hi, I have 6 English Bulldogs, here's my run down on their health. First one I had is Princess: Great no problems, very active, did well in dog shows, then I bred her. First litter all pups ok, second litter, 6 water puppies, none lived. Third litter ok but she killed 2. She had a shot of antibiotics and something else one day and had a seizure, seizures kept up and had 6 seizures in 8 months, she is now one seizure meds. Health now questionable.She has been spayed when seizures started. Her pups are all fine in fact have them coming back for another pup. My second one is King, male, great dog did well in dog shows,no problems but a intradigital cyst. My third Jazzy, no problems but very ACTIVE, no show experience, my fourth one Robin, did great in show ring, no problems, very lazy. My 5th and 6th are Maverick and Sugar, no problems yet, young pups 9 months and 7 months. So out of 6 dogs only 1 has had problems. I got the first one from someone who said they have bred for years. I don't know. I didn't know too much then, now the rest I get are only gotten by people I have met at shows. So I know they are prone to problems but you really can't tell until you get one if it will have problems also if the breeder is really truthful. I have noticed some breeders won't really tell you of any problems.

bully health issue-
Ive had Jade for almost two yrs now-she will be 2 this coming jan31-07.So far Ive had no major issues with her-a bout of ear mites which we treated ourselves,we bred her when she had her second heat but all 5 pups died.She hasnt had any major concerns-she is very upbeat and far from lazy-she lies down on floor by yer feet but when you move she is up and ready to go too.She is a great eng bully-smart ,playful,likes to sleep on her back right where we walk in the room.I got her from a lady in Wisconsin from the puppyfind site-and Diane has 15 yrs of exp behind her on the breed...
I never had such a good dog.Hope this helps.Pls do get a bully-they will enrich the lives of many around you....Jodi
