Eye Problem ?? Red Eyelid With Excessive Goop/Tears...

Hey guys,

This weekend I went away & left apollo with my wife to watch. When I came back, I noticed his right lower eye lid in the corner was red with excessive goop. I've been cleaning it the last couple days with no luck. It's not really bugging him, but i'm not sure if I need to take him to the vet or not. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx
Chap

He could have entropian. My bulldogge has it and is going in for surgery on friday. It is caused from the wrinkles on the face. It pushes the eyelid down and the eyelashes bug the eye. They are going to take about a half inch of skin out from under his eyebrow and raise the eyelid. It is very painful for the dog once it begins to get irritated. Not saying that is what your dog has, but maybe he should go the vet just to make sure.
You don't want to mess around with the eyes. if it's an infection and it doesn't get help, your dog could lose sight in his eye. it could be nothing, like a sty causing the problem, but it's best to have it checked.
We just took scarlet to the vet yesterday for red eye...it was really red in the corners and bloodshot for a few days. He said it was prolly from allergies (she had other symptoms too) but he gave her antiobiotic drops for her eyes. He said when anything on the eye last for more than a day bring the dog in. He said things that seem minor can cause big problems and you don't want to risk it!
Conjunctavistis

Could be Conjunctavisitis too & you need drops or ontiment for that I would see a vet I agree eyes are nothing to fool around with
thanx for all your help guys, i'm gonna monitor it one more day & make an appointment for Saturday. Much appreciated.
