someone mentioned to me that even though their female dog was fixed, she might still be experiencing some hormone surges (possibly related to a heat?).
has anyone heard of this?
and also, how often is a female's cyle?
I have never heard of this and do not believe it. Possibly could depend on when you get your dog spayed?? Whether that be after they've had a heat cycle or not.
It is possible for a dog to experience symptoms of going in & out of heat if the vet that performed the spay left behind even the slightest bit of ovarian tissue or tissue on the uterine stump. Although not common, it does happen.
However, to be more specific, these hormone surges, are they behavioral/attitude issues or physical ones (swelling of the vulva, swollen nipples, etc.)?
