The breeder that had Turo (5 month Staff) said he was eating 400g(just under 1 3/4 cups) of food 1 time daily. However, since I have had him I cannot get him to eat more than 300g and that is all by hand.

Does this mean he should still be eating twice a day or that he just doesn't need the food?

How do I make the transition from hand to bowl feeding???

Thanks

Why he isnt eating.... could be a few things. Maybe that much in one meal is just too much food for him. What kind of food are you feeding him?

To make the transition so he still knows the food is coming from you... feed him a small amount from your hand, then make him watch you put a small amount in the dish and have him eat that, and keep doing that until that feeding is over.

I don't agree with what puregrover stated... that is allowing them to eat on their time.. not yours. If you are trying to establish the alpha role, you don't want to do that

I am feeding him Proformance Puppy. He seems healthy in every way except he is a bit timid. I will hand feed the first bit then put it in the bowl and walk away. If I put down the food at 7pm what time should I take it away?

Thanks for the help.
