I voted for dinner and hotel...something like that is SO relaxing...it's wonderful when someone else takes over and plans an evening for us. As a mom and wife (and I think you mentioned your wife is a realtor) her life is pretty busy and getting away for a night is a lot of fun! this is what my husband does for me each year. he picks a new restaurant for us to try and a different hotel each time...SO much fun! Lots of the nicer hotels have an 'anniversary package' or 'honeymoon package' that you can ask for (even though it's not either of those occasions). Last time we stayed at the Ritz and got the anniversary package...the had chocolate covered strawberries and chapagne chilling in our room when we arrived and we also got room service the next mornign for breakfast (all part of the package). It was GREAT!! (and not to terribly expensive either!)

Steve, I read too quickly, I thought these were Xmas gift ideas. If it's just her b-day, do the dinner and hotel, and save the ring and coat for Xmas!!
