I posted this before but no one answered it I guess it was because I did it in the food question I had. Anyways.. Moose's food has this in it and I want to get your advice on should I still give him his pill form of this or stop? I was giving it in pill form for prevention. The new food has this in it so what do you all think?

If you decide to give glucosamine and chondroitin supplements in pill form, make sure they are organically derived because dogs do not absorb sythnetic derivatives of these supplements efficiently. In other words, buy it from a health food store or supplements specifically designed for dogs.

Debs - How much of this is in the food per serving? Is it enough to be considered a daily
dosage? If it is not then he probably needs to keep taking the supplement. Give Moose a hug
from Clara and me.

Go ahead and give him the pill regardless of what is in the food. What is on the food is generally sprayed on and really doesn't amount to all that much. Besides, you really can't over do the chondroiton and glucosamine..what the body cannot utilize will be flushed out in the urine.

How do you tell if it is organically derived? I've been giving Bear Spring Valley Dietary Supplement Glucosamine, Chondroitin Plus MSM which I bought in the vitamin section at Walmart. I could swear it has helped Bear with a small problem he was having in his back leg.

Also, does it matter with Fish Oil too?

Thank you all for your input. I give Moose and my other dog Tina the pill from BJ's Wholesale and it made a BIG difference in my dog Tina. I give Moose the pill to prevent any problems.
