I have not seen the whitefish, mine eat Diamond Naturals large breed and do good on it, I had tried other Diamond Natural foods but the large breed had the best review here of the Diamonds. Large breed is supposed to be over 60 pounds, my 2 are in the 50s and play hard, figure that's close enough to work for them!

I have not heard of this one, but if you like Diamonds food, we had excellent luck with the Salmon and Potato Natural Balance by DVP. It's a limited ingredient diet that really helped with Bowsers allerigies.

We have since switched him to a Hills vet diet, but the food worked well for a long while.

Good luck! :)

Hi just wondering if anyone has tried the diamond brand grain free whitefish? Our boy is pure white and itchy! I have narrowed my search for "the perfect food"..thanks to this forum!..but could still use a bit of input on this brand. Thanks

The Diamond grain free whitefish appears to be a slight step up from the 4health brand kibble that is sold at TSC and also made by Diamoned. It does not appear as if the Diamond labeled food lhas any beet pulp in the ingredient list. but my eyes are not what they used to be for sure. We have fed the 4health grain free for a few months now. We started with the fish formula but the smell is a bit much for me and it seemed to linger on the dogs breath. Weare using the turkey formula and are satisfied. i will add that our dog poops like a racehorse on every food we have bought and we have been through TOTW, Blue Buffalo, and now 4health, Honestly she pooped less when we got her and she was eating Pedigree. Go figure that one out?

stop switchng foods and have a blood allergy test done. if your dog is allergic to airborne items (grass, weeds etc) no matter how much you change his food he will still be itchy. have your vet take blood and send it out for either a HESKA or ELISA airborne/environmental allergy test. once the results come back you can see what your dog is allergic to (if its airborne) and go from there

How long has he been on it? Food takes ONE MONTH to fully transition a dogs body and immune system. Give it time.

You may need to go the vet diet route for dogs with environmental and food allergies. We have bowser on the Hills Prescription ZD and he has yet to scratch again.

Give the Diamond food time, but he may need a limited ingredient food or an anti allergen food

Yup! Well I just don't think it's all foods. The DVP Natural balance is around 22% as well, which is what Bowser was on before the Vet Diet.

I try to go with the lower proteins simply because you don't actually know how much is in there. The guaranteed analysis is an awful way to judge foods because the AAFCO is only required to list the minimums. So if your food has 18% protein, it could be insanely high in reality. Another reason why I don't trust the store brands because the sugar, and sodium content could be far higher than what the bag says.

We feed Bowser the Hills Salmon and Potato DD derm diet from the Vet. It's about $100 for 30lbs but he's never had an issue, and Hills never has recalls. Science Diet is far better food that people give them credit for. You cannot simply look at the ingredients on the bag to tell you what's in the food: it's the quality that counts.

If I were to feed any other food than Hills it would be Acana/Orijen. Excellent quality ingredients, they have their own plant, locally harvested ingredients, and they also never have recalls.
