I've noticed that some of you put harnesses on your dogs. What makes you choose a harness as opposed to just a collar with the leash?

If it's been discussed, just point out the thread to me. Thanks!

IMO harnesses are useless. How would you give your dog a correction if it needed it if it was on a harness?

We use collars because I feel we have more control with a collar vs a harness. We use prong collars while we're out with them, just for extra insurance.

I use a prong collar when walking my dogs but when I take them to the park, I use harnesses. ( that's why all my pics have harnesses!) My dogs play rough with eachother and they got caught up on eachother a while back. I just feel safer because the harness is away from their necks and so they don't grab eachother by it.

I only use a harness when i'm riding my bike with abby or rollerblading with her. It pulls less on her neck if were going uphills or whatnot. When were just going for a walk, I use a collar. Much better control.

I took Harley for her first long walk today with her prong collar and her new leash. Her new leash is more like the end of a normal sized leash. It went well. She walked beside me the whole time. She didn't have the length to go off on her own and woth the prong she didn't really try to go off on her own. The combonation of the 2 works great for us.
