Hi, I have just recently adopted my 2 year old dog Kallie. She's the sweetest dog and a HUGE couch potato. She's weighs about 60 pounds. The guy we got her from adopted her about 2 months ago and said that she was a Pit Bull. I've been looking on the internet and I don't know if she is a Pit or an AmStaff Terrier or a AmStaff Bull Terrier or what. People that have seen her will stop us and say that's a pretty Pit or some will say wow I love that Staffordshire, so I don't know what she is! Can you help!?!

She looks like an american pit bull terrier or an american staffordshire terrier, probably more likely an amstaff because she a little bulky for a pit bull. They are pretty much the same breed just two different types (most akc amstaffs are registered ukc and/or adba pit bulls. I would rule out american bulldog because they are heavier and different in appearance (though she could be an AB/pit mix. I would also rule out Staffordshire bull terrier because they generally only get to around 35 pounds.

Don't be afraid if she is a pit bull, they are fabulous dogs. i used to be a vet assistant and met over 100 of them in that and rescues. I never had a problem with them. I am also a former owner of one who passed away from cancer. They are great dogs no matter what lies the media says.

Definately a Pit Bull. Probably an AmStaff like the others have said. Staffordshire Bull Terriers are smaller, around 35lbs, and look very different. Here is a pic of a very nice looking one.

BTW you have a very nice looking dog there.

Her tail is thick at the bottom and that is an American Bulldog trait but the blue is a PB trait. I have an American Bulldog that looks a lot like her(structure wise). I would say AB/PB mix bc of the tail, structure, size, color

Sorry i was looking for structure pictures of Tora
I missed that she is only 60lb so if she were an AB she would be on the small side......(Tora is small for an AB kinda she is 70lb at nine months)
How is your girl's snout? is it on the short side?
Tora profile

Front

Side...see how her tail tappers.PB's are usually thin all the way down

OH and your girl is darling!!! Tora does the bear hugs too :D Doesn't really matter either breed is a great dog and full of character :D

Unfortunately, no one can give you an answer to your question. A "pit bull" is a generic term that includes several breeds: the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bull Terier, & American Bulldog or any MIX of these breeds. To the government & general public, a "pit bull' is also any breed or mixed breed of dog that portrays similar characteristics to the above mentioned breeds.

Now that we got that out of the way, my only guess would be an AmStaff or AmStaff mix. (an APBT bred away from working ability is no longer an APBT...it's an AmStaff)

Your dog looks like an APBT to me, possibly one down from some AST lines being the build and color, but can't guarantee that.

I think she looks APBT, the tail aside it is a fault but possible for an APBT. I posted a picture of Lacey on the another thread she is a 25lbs seal APBT and her tail is thick at the base. She is APBT no AB in her.

If blue is not also a AB trait then an AB and APBT together could not produce a blue dog to my knowledge? Blue is a dilute of black and is carried recessively therefore both dogs must carry the gene, if this color is not found in ABs the gene isn't carried and can't be passed on to offspring to create a blue dog.

You dog looks like she is from an AB line with a lot of APBT in it. I don't know to much about specific AB lines but others on this board do. Looks like an APBT I know from another msg board. I'm not sure what her lines were. I guess she had a little colby, they told me colby but were waiting on the pedigree to come back to see what all she really was. As she was built and looked like your dog but had red instead of brindle, white and a red nose, Colby dogs have black nose and she also wasn't built like a Colby bred dog.
