and he is really sweet, he is a puppy, black and white and about 3-5 months old. We know nothing about the breed except the bad things we hear on the news and I would like to know how best to train him from the beginning so he isn't a problem for my dad (who is 76) or should I find him another home?

The dog has been around my sisters kids who range in age from 4 to 15. My dad also has a small miniature pup that the bull dog will play with but it is so small he can't take the bull dog's aggressiveness, though it is very restrained because he knows when the puppy squeeks he is hurting it.

Pit bulls are very easy to train! Like cookiesmom said get lots of treats and start teaching. Once you get all of the pups shots enroll into an OB class. It's great for socialization and to listen under the distraction around other dogs.
