The summer of 2006 has been a busy one for all of us here at Canine Solutions Training Services so I haven’t posted in a while. I thought this would be a cool topic to get me back in the swing of posting.

I was given an Alapaha Bulldog earlier this week. This Alapaha (Hooligan) was living with a couple in their 70’s. They had originally brought the dog to me for training as a 6 month old pup. They came to only 2 lessons and were never heard from again, until last week. This Alapaha (now 2 years old) was just too much for these good folks to handle. They called me up and asked if I would be interested in this “Hyper” bulldog.

We made an appointment for me to take a look at the dog. I told them that if I didn’t want him I would try hard to help find him a home. That same day Mike Connors and I were training some Police K-9’s we have for sale. Mike and I were just finishing up when the older couple pulled up. They took the dog out of the car and Mike and I said at exactly the same time “I KNOW THAT DOG!” It turns out the dog is from Mike’s line and Eric’s breeding. We gave each other a sideways look and Mike ran for a sleeve! As soon as Mike put the sleeve on the bulldog went into prey drive. The dog bit right off! He also went everywhere for the bite. Over tables, chairs, and crates! He was a bit of a handful to correct. He was the boss at the old couple’s house and didn’t like any corrections at all. But other than that he was AWESOME! (lol)

I haven’t stopped training with him since. I take him everywhere and his temperament is the best I have ever seen in a working dog. Mike and Eric can tell you the lines and the pedigree. I haven’t been this impressed with a dog in a long time. Don’t get me wrong, I have 3 other Alapahas from Mike and they are all exceptional pups. But Hooligan holds special status with me. Take a look at the video and you can see why. What you are seeing is RAW DOG. I cannot take any credit for anything about this dog. The breeders should take all the bows. Now it’s my job to get some titles on this bad boy!

As always the video is open to all constructive comments.

Safe training,
Chris Fraize
