I think someone may have given you some bad advice on how dog training works. The crate and fixing don't end the problem it's YOU that fixes the issue. These are merely tools you will need to make your job eaiser but in the end the responsibility to train your dog is yours.
Dogs pee, crap, tear up, bite, jump up, run and many other things. It is you that must teach them when the time is appropriate. Try starting with a good OB class. it could help you tremendously
