The way I look at it, dogs are carnivores. Why would you want to feed a dog something their body isn't designed to eat? When I fed kibble, I fed the grain free. IMO, if your going to feed kibble, it should be grain free. If your dog has tummy problems because of it, your either feeding too much, or the dog is intolerant of one of the ingredients. Purina SS or whaterver its called is made by Purina, the same company that makes puppy chow. That's all it takes for me to decide its a bad food.

When you look at biology and history, raw is a no brainer. But hey, thats just me. If one can not afford to/cannot find resources to feed raw, a high quality grain free kibble is as low as one should go.

Raw  It just all depends on what you want to pay. There is TOTW, Wellness Core, Canidae, Orijen, Acana, Merrick BG, EVO, California Naturals, DVP, NV Instincts, Horizon, Solid Gold, and Fromm are some of the ones I can think of.

I have fed TOTW, EVO, and NV Instincts. I think EVO has been the best food for the money that I have fed. It's a little on the expensive side BUT it gave the best results as far as dry dog food. I'm currently starting to feed raw.
Hows the raw going for shelby?

Yea that was the most frustrating thing about switching to raw for me. But now I have around 3-4 sources that I buy from monthly and I have a freezer FULLLLLL of meat. Second least favorite part is weighing and wrapping everything. Bleck.

Stay away from anything ground. Doing ground takes away all the benefits of teeth cleaning.

My staple foods are chicken quarters, beef heart, and turkey necks. My dogs also get tripe, chicken liver, lamb flank, whiting, anchovies, chicken wings, eggs, and venison. They also get a raw meaty bison bone everyday.

Can't the kitten still rip the meat off for now? Unless your grinding up bones with chicken when feeding ground chicken, it would be the same difference. The wings I got are teeny tiny. I still feel very strongly against feeding ground anything unless it's a necessity. Kitty's gotta learn how to eat it sometime.
