Besides the supplement and food suggestions you could try brushing him daily outside with a "shedding tool". You can get this at Petco. When you brush them with this the hair will come off in sheets. You will be amazed at the amount of hair coming off. This will surely help the amount being left in the house. Here's a link to a picture of it.

I loved the shedding tool until I tried the furminator! I know the name is really corny but I will never use another brush again. We used it on our clinic cat (a DSH) and you could have built a life size VW with the hair that we got off one little ole' cat! It is amazing. I didn't have a chance to try it on Sugar, but I am sure it will work on her if it works on Labs! You really should try it!

i just had a look at the furminator website, and what is it that we need? the deshedding tool? what size should i get for nelson? small, medium or large?

i just vacummed the house yesterday and i have to vacuum and mop once a week because i have to vacuum to get rid of his hair and mop to get rid of the drool marks all over the tiles in the house. if i have guests over i always have to vacuum and mop before they come over because its just embarrassing. the floor looks filthy but its only because of nelson's drool. i tried mopping without vacuuming once and it was just disgusting.. little hairs stuck to the tiles all over the place!

ahh but what would i do without my nelly, i'd go insane for sure! can't live with his fur but can't live without him!

The only difference in the 3 is the length of the blade. I like the medium.

Do you think this brush would work on my Rat Terrier Molly too? Her fur is so short and corse (sp). She is shedding like crazy and I can't find a brush to comb it out. Everything I try doesn't really pick up her hair. I want to go to petsmart NOW and buy one. Between her and Tanner, I also have to sweep alot. Don't mind them shedding but it would be nice to not to have to sweep all of the time. How much do these run since I will probally need two different sizes.

It will work on any dog as long as you don't apply too much presssure on a dog with short hair. I love them and I have used them a million times at the clinic!

I just carry lint brushes everywhere, keep them all over the house and vaccum every other day..what are you gonna do..

With animals comes hair..shoot for that fact I think I shed more than my dog :wink: ..
