I am not sure what you paid, but a 'pet' quality OEB from a decent bloodline will start around $2k. Yes, you can find them cheaper - I have a fairly narrow definition of what a decent bloodline means. 
I have seen bulldogges imported from European stock that cost the buyer $7-10K. Obviously peoples expectations differ on what high dollar can be when talking OEBs, but I am trying to put things into perspective for you as a buyer.
