So yesterday late afternoon I was playing with Buster for over an hour playing with his favorite toy ( tennis ball ) and was throwing it around the house and he brings it back and sits and waits for me to throw it again, he loves fetch and takes his tennis ball everywere with him, pretty much when that ball is out all attention is on that ball so anyway we are playing fetch.Molly our dalmation is laying at the front door waiting for daddy to get home just like everyday.Well next thing I know Molly starts barking and I look up and over at the door to see a politition (sp) woman standing at the top of my front walk well Buster now runs over to the door and starts barking so i get up and as soon as I stand up Buster turns and starts attacking Molly, gets on top of her grabs her by her neck and is shaking and pulling and biting and well it got nasty. All this in front of my door in front of this woman( I scoop up my son who is standing near by and tell my daughter to pick her feet up off the ground as she was near by on the computer ) so i yell out for her to leave now is not a good time as she can see.Well she continues to stand there so I yell out again GO, I dont have time now and she waves to me so by now I am pissed and Yell , LEAVE MY HOUSE NOW which she did.I get the front door shut and grab the spray water bottle and start spraying them down to which Buster stops.I yell at him and put him outside.I come in to find Molly curled in a ball on the sofa shaking and wigging out so I calm her down and check her over and find two puncture wounds, one on the neck and one on the back both bleeding and deep . Having worked at the vet I know to clean them with soap and water and put neosporin on them and to keep an eye on them as they can become infected. She is swollen on the one side of her hip were I am guessing Buster had grip with his paws and nails. She has a cut over he eye but no bad.So now i have no choice but to crate and rotate them.Molly is a dominate (SP) female and Buster seems to be a dominate male and seems to be over powering Molly.I cant and wont trust them together. It is very sad that it has to come down to this but I cant take a chance of having a blood bath or one of my kids getting stuck in the middle of a fight. The odd thing is when my hubby is home nothing like this ever happens, only with me. He will let them both around each other when he is home and nothing happens but me all hell breaks loose.I just dont get it.

I'm so sorry - poor Molly - do you have an antibiotic you can start her on? My sheltie, Libby, got beat up by our landlord's dogs, of all things, and was so sore she could barely walk for almost a week!!

Gonna have to look and see what I have in there cabinet ( yes, they ahve there own cabinet filled with meds and treats  ) I am keeping a close eye on her wounds and if I notice anything different I will take her right over to the vet.
I was worried about her walking as well today but she seems to be getting around well for now, poor thing took a beating for sure.

With Libby the soreness got worse the 2nd day, like it does with people. Libby has thick fur and an undercoat, not like a Dal with a short coat, so she didn't get puncture wounds but her back end was SO SORE, she had slobber on her butt where they had bitten her. She was so sore and stiff that she'd get into a peeing position, and she could not stand back up! What a nightmare. I had to go out and help her around the yard (and she's only 4 years old!)
We have a medicine cabinet as well with all kinds of meds/antibiotics/wormers, etc. and treats too! Let us know how it all goes, ok?

Sorry that had to happen. I've been dealing with a 3-way rotation for about a year now.

It sucks pretty bad, but we are used to it now, and it's working. At first it was easy to screw up and let my guard down, and they would slip past me at the door or something, but now it's routine and part of life for the next 6-8 years.

Hope Molly feels better soon. Clara will do this at the door. It seems to be some kind of trigger frenzy.
We have had to really work with Clara to keep to herself when someone knocks on the door. She wants
to get caught up in the frenzy and attack Holly. She has gotten to the point that she does not go after
Holly, but before we answer the door or anything else we crate Clara. The others are still barking, etc. but
not going after each other. Clara though has never tried to puncture Holly yet, just jump her and mouth her.

*hugs* I hope Molly is okay.

My mom's dog macey got mauled by a bobcat (yeah, bobcat) and had puncture wounds all over her body, so I know how you feel :(

Give Molly an extra hug from me.

Sounds like the dogs dont think of you as alpha (but do think your husband as leader) so they are trying to claim you and since both are dominant of each other, fights happen.
Seem like the stranger at the door triggered something in Buster...maybe
Molly gave him the wrong look...who knows  dogs can give such subtle looks that we cant pick up on.

I am just glad Molly is not seriously injured, im sure that was so scary!!!!
