While i was outside walking my OEB and playing with my kids - a neighbor came up to me started grilling me about my puppy. A few minutes into the discussion he said if my 16wk old puppy hurt one of his kids he would kick the *&^% out of it and then take care of me. Then he went on to say because I walk the dog until she goes and don't let her back in the house until then that I am abusing her. He saw me discipline her with Bitter apple one day and said because "i abuse my dog she is going to be a mean dog and he is frightened that it will attack his kids" I asked him what he meant again he said that making a dog listen and using bitter apple will only make a dog meaner.
Then to further this wonderful conversation he stated that my dog wasn't a bulldog it was a pitbull, I asked him why he thought so -- she has a squared head he answered, then he went on on how vicious these Pitbulls were. Allthe mean time my 2 sons and the puppy are playiong in the grass less then 12 feet from us. I asked him how he knew so much and he said comeon anybody knows what a pitbull looks liek(obviously he doesn't). I called my old roommate who has been caring for my pitbull and asked him to bring him over - when he got there I asked my neighbor person to tell me what kind of dog he was. He stated because of his long ears and tail he wasnt a pitbull -- I then showed him the paperwork stating that indeed magnum was a full bred American Pitbull and also the paperwork showing him that Jezabel was an OEB.
He get upset called the dog officer because his little rat terrier wouldn't come outside with the big mean dogts there. Again Magnum was on a 4 ft leather leash nd in his harness and Jezabel was in her harness with her leash. Why are people so dam ignorant?
The dog officer even said that Magnum for being around all the strange people was well behaved and listened better then his children, as far as Jezabel she just wanted to play with everybody.
