We recently bought a 9 week old Old English/English bulldog. He has a great personality and is fun loving so far. We have a 9 year old miniature poodle/terrier mix who has been the best dog for us for the last 7 years. Unfortunately she can't stand her new little brother and constantly growls and snarls at him every time he comes up to her.

We think he just wants to play. She however wants nothing to do with him. Will this change over time? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

In time she may get used to him, but right now she considers him an interloper and one who is going to try to mess with her. She is older and not in the mood for puppy antics.

Just be sure that the pup gives her the space she wants. Do not let him annoy her, it will just take longer for her to get use to him.

Congrats on the new pup. :)

Just be careful as your bully gets older. Sooner or later he will more than likely figure out his size advantage and put it to use. Your other dog could be in for a serious butt whooping. Some bigger dogs will never get physical with a smaller dog but some will. Just watch for changes as he matures . Good luck.

Actually a few folks have said the same thing. We'll see how things develop as he gets bigger.

Thanks!

she will probably warm up to him when she stops annoying her all the time. hopefully she will be patient but as they said i would not let him annoy her to much of he could get a butt whoopin. hopefully in time she will warm up to him.

That's what we are hoping for! He's very playful and she (older dog) just doesn't want to play with him. We'll see in time how it goes!
